“Software engineering for automated UAV operations”

Unmanned aircraft have been a promising research and industry sector for many years. To enable safe and efficient regular operations for commercial applications a necessary traffic management system is currently lacking. The FSR develops application-oriented procedures and methods for air traffic management of UAVs. Test flights (indoor + outdoor) are carried out with the help of various prototypes to assess and evaluate such methods.

Ihre Stelle ist eingebettet in die Forschungsgruppe Future Cockpit Concepts. Zu Ihren Aufgaben gehört die Bearbeitung von Forschungsprojekten im Themenbereich Mensch-Maschine-Interaktion im Cockpit unter Einsatz von Methoden der künstlichen Intelligenz in Zusammenarbeit mit Industriepartnern. In der Lehre betreuen Sie das Tutorium Cockpitgestaltung. Darüber hinaus betreuen Sie studentische Abschluss- und Projektarbeiten und übernehmen Dienstleistungsaufgaben am Institut. Für Ihre Forschungsaufgaben finden Sie an unserem Fachgebiet eine herausragende Arbeitsumgebung mit einer exzellenten Ausstattung und einem hoch motivierten Team vor.

Im kommenden Wintersemester 2019/20 findet wieder die Lehrveranstaltung „Systemtheorie und Regelungstechnik“ für alle Bachelor-Studenten/innen im fünften Semester des Studiengangs „Mechanical and Process Engineering“ statt. Hierfür werden Tutoren/innen gesucht, die den Übungsbetrieb unterstützen und aktiv mitgestalten sollen.

For the winter term 2019/2020 the FSR is setting up a new course entitled “Machine Learning Applications”. In this course the application of Machine Learning in an engineering context will be demonstrated in a practical way. In addition to teaching the theoretical basics demonstration test benches and programming examples in MATLAB and/or Python will be used. For the preparation of this course the FSR is looking for support for the construction of the demonstrators, the creation of code and the creation of lecture documents such as slides in PowerPoint and documents which support the study of the students.

Exchange Program with the University of Colorado Boulder

In cooperation with our partner Jeppesen we offer students from the department of mechanical engineering with focus on aviation the opportunity to go abroad. Included are two trimesters at the University of Colorado at Boulder as well as an internship with Jeppesen in Denver. Applications must be due by November 30th, 2017, and should be sent to the MechCenter. A general information session on international exchange programs offered by the department of engineering will be held on October 25th, at 18.00 in L4|02-201. Additionally we offer a specific information session on the Boulder exchange program on Friday, November 10h, at 15.00 in L1|01-562K.

Tutorium Cockpitgestaltung

Das im Wintersemester 2016/17 neu eingeführte Tutorium Cockpitgestaltung wird auch dieses Jahr wieder am Institut für Flugsysteme und Regelungstechnik angeboten.

TU Darmstadt offers an international summer school for American and Australian students titled „German Engineering“ in June 2018. As part of this summer course, the Institute of Flight Systems and Automatic Control (FSR) will offer a course on flight mechanics. Over two days, students will learn the basic concepts of flight mechanics, flight dynamics and flight performance assessments. To support this course, FSR is now offering a student job.
