The Institute of Flight Systems and Automatic Control (FSR) conducts application-oriented research in the area of systems engineering in the aerospace sector.

Main objectives in the aeronautical research are the development of innovative technologies to enhance flight safety, efficiency of aviation as well as environmental aspects. Some current topics are the cockpit of the future, unmanned flight and data-based procedures in aicraft maintenance. Many projects are carried out in close collaboration with aviation industry.

In the space domain, FSR conducts research in the area of satellite collision avoidance and conceptual design in the early phases of complex space applications. An overview of all space activities at FSR can be found here .

The Institute of Flight Systems and Automatic Control offers a wide variety of courses and lectures, which, aside from the basics of Automatic Control and Flight Mechanics, also deal with Space Systems, Navigation, Systems Safety the systemic evaluation of Air Transportation and Machine Learning.
