Dr.-Ing. Florian Renk is a Aerospace Engineering graduate from the University of Stuttgart with specialization in Space- and Control Systems. He earned a PhD conducting research on the "Utilization of the Earth-Moon Libration Points for Exploration Missions". The work on libration point missions continued when he joined the Mission Analysis Section of the European Space Agency (ESA), however, with a focus on the Sun-Earth Librations Point. He supported the dual launch of Herschel and Planck on Ariane 5, the Gaia launch on Soyuz, the LISA Pathfinder launch Vega, JWST on Ariane 5 and Euclid on Falcon 9.

He gained operational experience by supporting the ExoMars 2016 Navigation and supported the lunar lander studies Heracles, EL3 and Argonaut. Further research topics include the utilization of Graphical Processing Units (GPUs) for Astrodynamics Computations to support large Monte-Carlo Simulations, e.g. required in the field of space debris and planetary protection compliance verification. In 2021 he became Head of the Mission Analysis Section.
