Aviation has developed from the first motor powered flight at the shore of Kitty Hawk to a worldwide cross-linked industry with essential impact on world economy. Commercial Aviation forms a complex system, whose separate components interact in many ways.

The Systemic Evaluation of Air Transportation lecture addresses the description and analysis of the system and its subcomponents. Interfaces and interactions as well as common interests and conflicts of the stakeholders in air transportation are illustrated. Current developments and future initiatives are considered. Furthermore, an overview over the regulative framework is offered.
