Welcome! You are studying mechanical engineering, mechatronics, computational engineering or in another engineering program at the TU Darmstadt and are interested in the field of aviation, air traffic management or systems engineering? Then you are right with us. In addition to lectures and exercises on these topics, we offer Advanced Design Projects, tutorials, Bachelor and Master Theses and interesting field trips to companies in the aviation industry. In this section, you can read about our programme. Keep yourself informed and up to date about current events and offers in the FSR news section. Haven't found what you were looking for? Contact us, we are happy to help you.
In addition to the undergraduate course Systemtheorie und Regelungstechnik (“Automatic Control”) we offer several elective courses in the general context of aeronautics and air transportation. Flight performance and flight dynamics are covered in the two consecutive lectures Flugleistungen and Flugdynamik (“Flight Mechanics I & II”). The lectures Grundlagen der Navigation I & II (“Basics of Navigation I & II” ) covers the state of the art in navigation systems with focus on air transport. New to our programme is the lecture Sichere Avioniksysteme (“Avionics Systems Safety”).
Currently, all of our lectures are given in german. Highlights are given in english at the end of the respective lecture. Examinations (oral or written) can be held in english upon request – please contact us at least two weeks prior to the scheduled examination.
Tutorial in flight mechanics
If you want to expand your theoretical knowledge from the lecture flight mechanics to practical experience, you should visit our flight mechanics tutorial in the summer semester. Here you will take part in test flights with an experienced pilot and analyse the recorded measurement data afterwards.
Bachelor- and Mastertheses @ FSR
You want to write your thesis with us? In all of our research topics, we offer numerous Bachelor / Master Theses and also Advanced Design Projects for students of TU Darmstadt. Current ADP advertisements can be found here or in the news section. For questions, please contact us.
In cooperation with our partner Jeppesen we offer students with a focus on aviation the opportunity to study two terms at the University of Colorado in Boulder followed by an internship at Jeppesen Englewood. Interested? Information about the programme can be found here.
We offer the participants of our courses the opportunity to participate in our field trips to corporate aviation industry. In the past, we have already visited the Lufthansa Technik AG and the Airbus factories in Hamburg or the headquarters of the German Air Traffic Control in Langen. For upcoming field trips, see the news section of our website.
Currently, we do not offer internships for international students. Please refer to the department of international study affairs.
